8×8 routing, mixing and feedback matrix for Eurorack in 30HP

The 8×8 Matrix Mixer from the Catsynth Classic-Line is a central routing and mixing hub for complex Eurorack patches. Eight inputs can be freely distributed, mixed and combined across eight output busses – ideal for modulation, audio, feedback structures and performance-oriented patch control.

With 64 direct potentiometers, the module provides immediate access to every single connection between input and output. Each input can be routed and level-controlled independently for every output. This opens up not only classic mixing and distribution tasks, but also complex signal networks, parallel modulation paths, crossfades, submixes and controlled feedback patches.

Despite its extensive functionality, the 8×8 Matrix Mixer remains compact for a full 8×8 matrix at 30HP and is built skiff-friendly. The linear potentiometers allow precise control of CV signals and also work beautifully with audio signals – perfect for patches where routing, mixing and performance become one workflow.

8 inputs, 8 outputs – 64 direct signal paths

The 8×8 Matrix Mixer allows each of the eight inputs to be sent to each of the eight outputs. Every crosspoint in the matrix has its own control, making it possible to set exactly how much of each input signal appears at each output.

This makes the module an extremely flexible tool: one LFO can modulate several destinations at different levels, multiple CV sources can be combined into individual output mixes, and audio signals can be distributed in parallel to different effects chains, filters, VCAs or feedback paths.

Especially in larger Eurorack systems, the Matrix Mixer replaces not only several small mixers and distributors, but also makes the structure of the patch much more tangible: instead of constantly repatching individual cables, the signal sources stay in place – the actual performance happens through the matrix.

For CV, modulation and audio

The 8×8 Matrix Mixer is suitable for CV and audio signals. For modulation, it enables finely balanced distributions, complex sums and performative changes across several destinations at once. For audio signals, it can be used as a multi-channel mixer, effects-send matrix, feedback center or creative routing tool.

The linear potentiometers are particularly well suited to precise control and mixing tasks. At the same time, the module proves to be a very musical tool for audio signals as well: levels, mix ratios and feedback amounts can be adjusted directly and predictably.

Feedback patching and experimental signal networks

A matrix is not just a mixer – it is an instrument for relationships between signals. The 8×8 Matrix Mixer is excellent for building controlled feedback structures, returning signals through multiple stages, or creating complex interactions between sound sources, filters, delays, waveshapers and VCAs.

Access remains direct at all times: every signal path has its own control. Small changes can create subtle movement, while stronger settings can quickly lead to dense, lively and experimental sound structures.

Classic-Line: large enough for control, compact enough for the case

As part of the Catsynth Classic-Line, the 8×8 Matrix Mixer is deliberately more spacious than the ultra-compact Slimline utilities. Its 30HP width provides enough room for 64 controls and a clear, performance-ready interface.

At the same time, the module remains skiff-friendly and can also be used in shallower Eurorack cases. This makes it suitable both as a fixed routing center in the studio and as the performative centerpiece of a live system.
